Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of language shift, especially Jamee language in Labuhan Haji District, South Aceh Regency to be precise in Pasar Lama Village. The approach and method used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The data source in this study was local people and the data chosen were the form of words which were considered to have experienced a shift from the morphological aspect. Based on data processing and analysis, the results of the study are a shift from the morphological aspect in the form of a shift in the free and bound morphemes. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the shift in the Jamee language was due to population migration, education, cross-marriage, and community integration. The language shift that occurs in society, of course, on the one hand can be a threat and on the other hand can be used as a treasure trove of language while still prioritizing language culture.
