Abstract
At the end of 2019, the world was shocked by the emergence of a deadly virus. This virus became known as the Novel Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID 19). Since its emergence, the virus has infected more than 4,200,000 people and killed nearly 300,000 people worldwide. To break the chain of distribution, the Indonesian government issued a policy set out in Government Regulation (PP) Number 21 of 2020 concerning Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). One of the effects is to stop learning activities at school, which is replaced by learning at home online. This policy is stated in the Ministry of Education and Culture Circular Letter number 15 of 2020 states that "the aim of implementing learning at home is to ensure the fulfillment of students' rights to get educational services during the Covid 19 emergency. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the response of parents of elementary school students in Banda City. Aceh and Aceh Besar regarding the learning process at home during the Covid 19 pandemic? meanwhile, the purpose of this study was to determine the response of parents of elementary school students in Banda Aceh to the learning process at home during the Covid 19 pandemic. This study used a qualitative approach, the research method used was a survey method. The results of this study indicate that during online learning, teachers use the WhatsApp application more for learning, and less do video conferencing with students, however, some teachers still accompany students to learn online, and also provide clear work instructions to students, despite the number. smaller than teachers who do not accompany students to learn. Other results found that parents of students experienced many obstacles, such as insufficient internet quota, having more than one child participating in online learning, limited time to accompany children to study, and more than 50% of parents of elementary school students in the city of Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar does not agree with the online learning process, because according to the online learning is more effective for higher levels.
