THE IMPLEMENTATION OF REPETITION DRILL IN TEACHING SPEAKING SKILL

Abstract
This research focuses on implementing the repetition drill technique in teaching speaking skill. The objective of this research is to know whether there is a significant influence of using repetition drill towards students' speaking skill and how the students opinion about repetition drill technique in teaching speaking skill of the second grade at Junior High School 8 Banda Aceh in the academic year 2019/2020.The research methodology used was quasy experimental design. The instrument used in this research are test and questionaire. In this research, the population was the second grade of SMP 8 Banda Aceh. The sample of this research was one class consisting of 23 students. The treatments were held 4 meetings in 2x45 minutes. In collecting the data, the instrument used were pre-test, pos-test and questioner. Before giving the treatment, the researcher gave pre-test. Then, after conducting the treatments, the instrument given was post-test. After giving pre-test dan post-test, the data were analyzed manually by using statistic formula. After giving the post-test, the data was analyzed by using t-test and t-table, it was t-test >t-table = 12,80>1,72. It means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the analysis of questionaire,it also shows positive response, 74% of the students stated that they agreed repetiton drilll technique improved their ability in speaking descriptive text. Therefore, there is a significant influence of using repetition drill towards students speaking skill of the second grade at SMP 8 Banda Aceh in the academic year of 2019/2020.
