Abstract

The aims of this research are to investigated the online assessment taken by lecturers' during covid-19 and to find out the shortcomings and solution by lecturers faced by taken online assessment during Covid-19. The subject of this research were six lecturers of English department at Universitas Abulyatama This research implemented qualitative descriptive approach in gaining data, by using interview and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively, The results showed that the lecturer perceived online assessment has a shortcomings. Namely, the internet connection, connection between the lecturer and students, Lastly, the lecturers responded negatively, namely, online assessment made the lecturers fealt a little depressed and overwhelmed and even had difficulty delivering course material to students, the area did not interact directly and did not get feedback between lecturers and students Then the solutions of the shortcomings about online assessment is distance online assessment can develop ideas and creativity in learning English, then it can create a natural and comfortable environment to use.Lastly, is the lecturers do the communications with the students to make authentic value of assessment that student got.
