THE IMPLEMENTATION OF VIDEO IN IMPROVING STUDENTS SPEAKING SKILL
Abstract
This study can detect whether students' speaking abilities have improved by using video as a learning tool. The researcher used a pre-experimental study, a pre-test, and a post-test with one group. The researchers used a three-meeting treatment. During the 2022-2023 academic year, the population of this study consisted of sixth grade students at SMA Negeri 16 Banda Aceh. The researcher used the complete sampling strategy. The Speaking exam is used as a research instrument. The findings revealed that sixth grade students at SMA Negeri 16 Banda Aceh had a poor pre-test score of 52.44; however, after receiving instruction using video as a learning medium, the students' scores significantly increased to 55.76 post-test. Using video as a learning tool can considerably improve students' speaking ability. According to the researcher, the t-test outperformed the t-table (6,186> 2.064). As a result, the Null Hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In conclusion, employing video as a learning tool can help students improve their grammar, vocabulary, fluency, pronunciation, and comprehension.
